Mediterranean, Medieval & Tudor Styles

Although I don't get a chance to build in these styles very often -- Mediterranean, Medieval and Tudor style garden architecture is perfect for English Tudor, Elizabethan, French Revival, Italian Renaissance and Mediterranean style homes.

Design Elements For Arbors, Fences, Decks & Gates

Wood: I like to use larger rough timbers, typically in the color range of dark browns or stained to that distinctive "old world" color.

Joinery: I recommend using modern construction techniques that produce the same effect as period construction methods, and add decorative pegs or rough heavy nails to enhance the look.

Metalwork: Decorative hand beaten iron strapping and heavy metal "hand forged" studs can be used to enhance the effect.

Lighting: Since mood is such an important aspect recreating this style, I recommend using hand crafted metal candle lanterns.
